I’m an illustrator, surface pattern designer and tutor working from my home studio in Silverdale, my work is inspired by the natural world which surrounds us. At the festival I’ll be exhibiting my original collages and products featuring my illustrations.
I make a wide range of beautiful, hard wearing and functional pots for everyday use, at a reasonable price. Individual pieces are often influenced by Morecambe Bay, its colours and found materials.
Working with locally sourced hardwoods, we produce a range of wooden handcrafted products. We specialise in hardwood boards for the kitchen and around the home. Incorporating the natural beauty and imperfections of the material, we produce beautiful, bespoke and functional pieces of art.
I make jewellery using silver, gemstones, seed beads, wire and resin. All my jewellery is handmade and nickel and cadmium free. I have photo-based greetings cards which are blank inside so can be used for any occasion.
Mike’s Artwork – The pictures are ready-to-hang and are created using a selection of natural and dyed wood veneers with occasional added materials for effect. The boxes are individually handmade using the same materials for both the interior and exterior surfaces.
Yvonne’s Artwork – The small, original pictures using acrylic paints are ready-to-hang as are the collage pictures which are created using mixed media materials. Hand-crafted cards are also created using mixed media materials. My inspiration is drawn from everywhere!
Tony makes leather items by hand using traditional techniques. Belts, wallets, bags, notebooks and more, all made from British and European veg-tanned leather. Tony will be demonstrating these techniques over the weekend.
For many years I have pursued different textile techniques. My artwork presently features mainly felt and both hand and machine embroidery. The beautiful landscape of Cumbria provides a wealth of source material, together with it’s flora and fauna.
I create very detailed digital paintings inspired by the local bay views and countryside. My art involves meticulously painting by hand using an iPad. I was shortlisted for the British Art Prize in 2023. I also paint using traditional media.
Inspiration for my unique Brusho and silk fabric work comes from the colours and forms found in the local scenery. I have a special love for trees and the light that plays through them, their knobbly trunks, twisted roots and the distant vistas to be glimpsed through them. I also create lino prints on textile which are enhanced using Brusho dye.
My work is contemporary, colourful and well observed. I work in various mediums depending on subject and place. Local birds, fauna and flora naturally found in this beautiful Area of Outstanding Beauty are a constant inspiration to my work.
