I am not a formally trained artist and I am sure I break many rules. Painting gives me great pleasure and if it gives other people pleasure looking at it, then I have achieved my goal.

My abstract paintings in digital, acrylic and mixed media respond to the shifting relationship between mind, emotion and environment. Influenced by landscape, the cosmos and world events, my work draws on 23 years of exhibiting practice.

I walk around Arnside and the South Lakes almost everyday and am inspired by the colours and shapes that I see. My work is sometimes representational or semi abstract drawn from real scenes.

The Bittern Countryside CIC returns with Marvellous Moths, a display of moth-inspired artwork by local schoolchildren. In workshops delivered by Larksfoot CIC, children have created pieces to raise awareness of our local moths, the threats they face and what we can do to help them.

I work mainly in acrylics and like experimenting with different techniques to create abstract landscapes or pure abstract pieces. I enjoy building up layers of colour!

Born in Preston, Ben studied Fine Art at Lancaster University. Followed by Theology and work with students in London, he settled in the Lakes in 2002. His painting is heavily influenced by this move – surrounded and immersed in the landscape

My work is contemporary, colourful and well observed. Birds local to this beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are a constant inspiration to my work. I will be showing greeting cards along with original hand painted cards.
