I like to experiment with acrylics and inks and enjoy using different ways to use the paint.

In my previous life as a lecturer in design history, specifically fashion and textiles, I had amassed a large collection of vintage fabrics that I used in my teaching. When I left the profession in 2015 I began to sell my collection. I also began using the scraps and off-cuts that were too small to sell to make hand-made coasters and key rings. These products express my passion for pattern, designers and manufacturers of the 1950s and 1960s. Coasters are made using glass or acrylic casings and are available as singles or sets of four. Vintage printed fabric often has lovely repeating patterns, but individual coasters vary to produce unique sets. I also re-use old French linen sheets, that I dye and combine with vintage fabric to make aprons and tote bags.

Since 2011, I’ve been drawn to the timeless craft of bench jewellery. Sterling silver became my perfect medium – shaping, refining, and transforming into handmade wearable art, including rings, pendants, bracelets and earrings.

We make a variety of filled chocolates, bars, novelties and gifts all hand tempered using the finest quality Belgian chocolate.

The Pier Gallery is owned by and features the work of, Caren and Peter Threlfall. As well as our own, we display the work of other artists and makers. We are open daily, 10.30 until 4.30 all year round.

I walk around Arnside and the South Lakes almost everyday and am inspired by the colours and shapes that I see. My work is sometimes representational or semi abstract drawn from real scenes.

The Bittern Countryside CIC returns with Marvellous Moths, a display of moth-inspired artwork by local schoolchildren. In workshops delivered by Larksfoot CIC, children have created pieces to raise awareness of our local moths, the threats they face and what we can do to help them.

I work mainly in acrylics and like experimenting with different techniques to create abstract landscapes or pure abstract pieces. I enjoy building up layers of colour!
