Born in Preston, Ben studied Fine Art at Lancaster University. Followed by Theology and work with students in London, he settled in the Lakes in 2002. His painting is heavily influenced by this move – surrounded and immersed in the landscape
I create decorative mosaics from pottery shards, scavenged from Silverdale beaches, and from other broken crockery. I also make ceramic, hand-built plaques, pots and garden ornaments. I often make my own ceramic pieces to include in my mosaics. We will also be serving drinks and cakes, in aid of The Alzheimers Society.
My name is Anne, I run my business Floral Linings from my home workshop in the Lake District, creating unique handstitched notebooks/journals from remnants, gorgeous pieces of leather and enhancing them with a lovely floral material lining all then hand stitched into place. I love being creative and the escape it brings, combining my love of sewing and creating I started to make my notebooks using my fabrics that I have collected over the years and some remnant leather that I had. Living in such a beautiful part of the country I am surrounded by nature in all its glory and my daily dog walks always provide me with new inspiration.
Yellow Bird Books, created by local author Annamaria Madera, brings local folklore and landscapes to life through beautifully illustrated children’s stories that celebrate history, nature, and imagination.
Annabel creates unique designs using a variety of materials and techniques and a love of fine craftsmanship. Nature provides constant inspiration – the minute detail of plants and flowers, the contours of a landscape or the natural forms created by working the metal.
Handcrafted by Angela. I started out making cold processed soaps to help reduce plastic waste in our household. This then became a quest to source handcrafted soap dishes and so the ceramic side of my business developed. I find the process of making everything by hand in small batches creative and calming.
I am a willow weaver and basket maker based in Lancaster. I make a range of willow baskets from smaller berry picking to large storage baskets as well as decorative pieces for the home and garden, such as stars, swallows, dragonflies, bird feeders and sunflowers.
My work is contemporary, colourful and well observed. Birds local to this beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are a constant inspiration to my work. I will be showing greeting cards along with original hand painted cards.
We like to explore different materials and techniques inspired by landscape and found objects. I enjoy abstract using lots of textures and earthy colours reflecting the geology of the landscape.
