I have recently begun experimenting with small watercolour and pen studies from my holidays abroad, however our local area still provides me with plenty of inspiration and I look forward to displaying a selection of these small paintings alongside larger originals and the usual giclee prints and greetings cards at this year’s festival.

My domestic stoneware is resilient, hardwearing and made for every day use. Finding and testing local muds, wood ash and other organic materials often results in interesting glaze effects on my studio pots.
Thanks to growing up within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the village of Silverdale in Lancashire, I have developed a deep connection with the beautiful landscapes and stimulating surroundings I see every day. I believe that even the most familiar spaces offer a novel and inspiring background at different times and seasons, which is why I now rarely leave the house without a camera in case an opportunity arises. Over the years my passion has grown for the art of photography and has developed into what it is today, not a day goes by without me thinking about it, planning my next image or being out on location somewhere with my gear. I am constantly trying to update my skills as a photographer so I love to experiment with different photography techniques to create dramatic and powerful images.
I enjoy creating small fused glass panels and tea lights inspired by the colourful flowers found in my garden and beyond. I work with both transparent and opaque glass to produce vibrant floral designs. Alongside this, my landscape paintings are created using acrylic ink and watercolour, drawing inspiration from the ever changing atmosphere of the Cumbrian fells. I love the way the light and seasons transform the landscape and try to capture this in my work.
An expansive lake and its surroundings in Central Finland provide me with inspiration for many of my paintings. The sense of isolation in this area of unspoilt nature is important to me. I use oil paint to express this atmosphere.
If I had my time again I would have been a potter! Having taken up pottery later in life, I have enjoyed developing skills and ideas. I have my own studio in Storth where I throw and hand build my pieces. I definitely don’t have “a style” per se. If I have an idea I work with it until I am happy so you will find I have an eclectic collection of mainly pots and bowls.
My current crafts include mixed media (Powertex), things made from maps, and cards with an outdoor pursuits theme. Inspired through a combination of many sources, many of the items I produce are one-offs and are truly unique.
