Inspired by the landscape and orchards around Halecat, I try and capture the impermanence of blossom and the ever shifting sands of the Bay. I work with a palette of local earth colours, including slate dust, Morecambe Bay sand, and the clay from near my studio at Halecat, to glaze and decorate my hand thrown pottery.

I am a local wildlife artist specialising in animals and landscapes using pastel pencils. I have framed original pictures, prints and cards. I have hand painted cards, jewellery, and pebble art. I create ceramics, mainly pots using nature as inspiration.

Huge apologies from the SAAAF Team (well, mostly from Tony, the web person) for sending you lots of emails this morning – one for every artist’s details uploaded! Sorry!
I’ve switched this feature off for the rest of the uploads, so you should only receive a few updates in the future!
Thanks for your patience. Our website should be ready to view shortly. I’ll let you know when.

A retired teacher of Art, Kath now spends her time making Art in a variety of techniques and media. This can be printing, painting and in particular drawing, depending on the subject matter and context. The theme for most pieces tends to be landscape and, lately, she has been exploring a broader range of titles which include still life and portraiture. Inspiration comes from a range of sources including weather conditions, seasonal colours, events and atmosphere, as well as the people she encounters. What interests her as much as the images she creates is the process used to create it.

My main inspiration comes from living with and watching animal behaviour and trying to capture it with clay. Most of my sculptures are built up individually using thin layers of a mixture of clays and bisque fired to 1000C . They then have various oxides applied and are re fired to 1250C

Crafty Little Bird is a celebration of slow making, beautiful fabrics, and the joy of creating something by hand. At the heart of Crafty Little Bird is a belief that creative skills are too precious to keep to ourselves. Passing on the art of sewing & mending to young people isn’t just about craft — it’s about confidence, patience, and the quiet magic of making something from nothing. Come along to my studio on Townsfield where I will be running kids sewing workshops through the day and also selling some of my makes.

Silversmithing is in my blood! Like my blacksmith ancestors, I love manipulating and forming metal. I hammer silver into delicate, organic shapes adding freshwater pearls with irregular characteristics and colourful gemstones to create unique, highly feminine jewellery.

I am an Arnside artist and potter based at The Old Customs House Gallery. I specialise in printing, aquatint etchings, woodcuts and I also create handbuilt ceramic pots which are often inspired by the colours of the Kent Estuary.

A wire armature is carefully engineered so that the sculpture can be outside in all weathers, including extreme snow loads. The form is then sculpted with aluminium foil and draped with natural fibres soaked in a liquid polymer product. Many sculptures have recycled products in the construction. It takes a couple of days to cure and become rock hard. It’s weatherproof after three weeks.
